I'm gonna help my friend install his Dana 60 in his Nova. We have to weld the perches on. I was wondering if we should keep it the same as the stock rear or change it up a little for better traction? Maybe we should leave the angle the same as stock and if he want's to play with the angle later he could use those shims they make for that purpose?
Thank you for any help in this matter. Laterman--Mac

pinion angle has no effect on traction. I would try to weld the brackets in the same place as stock, unless his transmission angle has been modified in any way, then you'll have to do some extra work to be sure the pinion angle is equal to the trans angle.

I agree. The angle of the pinion has nothing to do with traction, but it will have a big effect on the way the u joints work. Set the pinion angle correctly and tune the suspension for traction. http://www.iedls.com/ptsetup.html
