i am working on my rear quarter panel and some idiot before me apparently got in an accident and put about an inch thick of bondo from the door clear back tot he bumper. it is wavy as all get oout and i went to my friend the owns a body shop (mostly insurance claims, but i have heard good things from some local enthusiasts) and he said smooth it out with bondo and then put a layer of polyester across the entire quarter panel, re-prime and then paint. i'm a little iffy about this.... how should i go about this??? TIA

i forgot to mention. i know to do this right i should replace the whole quarter, but being right out of high school, living on my own (gas, insurance, apartment bills, etc.) and working at a local grocery store to pay my bills, i don't have the knowledge nor the cash to shell out to put a new quarter on.

Yep ,friend is right. Smooth out with bondo and apply a topcoat polyester glaze over everything, block till smooth. Think of the glaze as a very thick coat of primer. Mike
