got the 496 fired up in time for X-mas.:beers: it's a little cool to be driving around here ( -5 to -10 Celsius ), but who wants to sit on an engine that may or may not run for the rest of the winter. I've got 60 kms on it and so far so good. haven't laid in to it yet but with a mildly modified 700R4 behind and black ice everywhere that would be disaster waiting to happen. you guys have talked me out of trying a built 700R and into going with a t400. i should have enough torque now that i shouldn't need the 3.06 1st gear anymore in the 700. has anybody got an opinion good or bad on the TCI competition series? i'm thinking about buying one with the reverse shift pattern and a transbrake valvebody already installed and pairing it with a B&M truck megashifter. i really appreciate all the help everybody has given me during the course of this build. thanks. hoping to do some racing this year instead of just spinning wrenches. oh well! you can't appreciate the good times as much without the bad times to go with them. happy holidays everyone!

I have been using an ATI built th400 with reverse manual valve body and beating on it for 5 years now with zero issues. Good luck

69bigblock, are you running a transbrake as well? are they available from ATI already installed in the tranny?

Griner invented the transbrake but didn't "patent" protect it well enough and so now everybody has one. The drivetrain lives a lot better without a brake. When you get enough power you don't need one. Footbraking takes the slack out of the driveline and is much easier on "u" joints and rear end pieces.

No, I am not using a transbrake. They do have them with one installed. Good luck!
