: Where to find Ridgid tool?
10secBu Dec 24th, 06, 2:27 PM Looking to find a Ridgid #33927 or 23337 flare tool kit. Both are 345-DL double flare kits with the 33927 kit adding the #150 tubing cutter.
I've done some searching on the net and can't seem to come up with anyone who sells these to the general public. Grainger shows it, but you must be a contractor to purchase from them.
Any help here?
thanks
Todd

I found this Ridgid part number by using a search and coming up with that exact thread here on TC.
Still can't find a place to actually purchase it though. I understand Ridgid stuff is real nice quality, but they aren't very "available" for the average guy looking to purchase.
Home Depot even sells limited stuff of Ridgid, but not the part number(s) I'm looking for.
10secBu Dec 24th, 06, 3:42 PM BTW, my current flare tool came from a local Auto parts store and I'm pretty sure it's the Lisle brand.
Cannot for the life of me get it to make a concentric flare. When you use the double flare inset, the bubble it creates is lopsided. I've tried everything, being anal about making sure the inside and outside are deburred and the end is cut square. The double flare insert will tend to rock as it is compressed, even if it was dead straight before I began to turn the handle.
I also noticed the bars would not be even side to side some times, so I even clamped both bars in a vice to test and make sure they were even which didn't help any either.
Really disgusted with the quality of the flares produced. That hydraulic piece looks like a good idea in that the head assembly appears to hold all the components into alignment, but I can't justify spending $300 for a tool that gets such little use.
bracketchev1221 Dec 24th, 06, 4:15 PM Todd I know this isn't the time to be looking with the holiday. But what about just local plumbing stores. They might be able to order it for you if they are a rigid dealer.

True, they might be able to order one in.
I doubt that a plumbing wholesale house stocks one because we plumbers have no need to ever make a double flare.
W W Grainger will usually sell to anyone that tells them any company name.

Do a distributer search on the Rigid Tool site. I did and they list all the Home Depots as distributors.Hope this helps.

I found that site earlier today. The site isn't working for crap. There online ordering doesn't function. I tried adding it to a cart, but my shopping cart shows a quantity of zero. There's a place to sign in for return customers, but no place to register for new customers.

Correct, with them or anyone else. Just make up a name (Todds Racing Engines) and they will sell to you. I have done it many times.
redbowtie Dec 25th, 06, 2:00 AM www.granger.com
redbowtie Dec 25th, 06, 2:01 AM dam that didnt work sorry ck w/granger supply one?
Chris R Dec 26th, 06, 3:54 AM At this point I would probably just call Rigid themselves and see what they tell you or even sell it to you directly.
Olle Dec 26th, 06, 1:09 PM Go to Ridgid's web site (http://www.ridgid.com/), and click on "where to buy". I found 6 dealers just within 20 miles from me, so surely enough there should be someone in your area as well.
10secBu Dec 28th, 06, 5:20 PM Thanks for the replies guys. I had a small business two years ago, but Grainger wouldn't sell to my wife when she went to pick it up for me. She wound up having to use her uncle's plumbing business to make the purchase.
Grainger seems to be quite "prickish" about the wholesale/retail thing. Not like their prices are any great discount to businesses that buy from them. Both Grainger & MSC won't sell to private individuals. Funny thing is that McMaster Car will, have ordered from them several times with no problems.
Anyway, just tried the new Ridgid flare tool out and it worked perfectly on the first shot!
Now to get to work replumbing this entire brake system.
JWagner Dec 28th, 06, 7:09 PM In troubled times like these, I try Froogle (Google's retailers site) and get something like this.
