While stripping my doors I found some area's of filler, but no rust beneath. It seems that someone filled dents with the filler. Is there any reason why they would not have pulled the dents or at least try to. These dents are shollow (filler is about 1/8"thick) with no appearent creases in the metal. What is the best way to correct these dents, pounding or pulling? And where can I get an sufficient mig welder? Thanks.

1/8 in dings can be fiiled with fillers unless you can get to them to hammer them out. Most shops just fill to get the vehicle out quicker. Some you just can't get too. Go to any welding supply store and you can pick up a decent mig for about 400$. 600$ will get you a 220volt mig capable of doing really nice frame and panel welding. Miller and Lincoln welders are about the best. Hobart are decent in the 110volt range.

Hey man, I'm getting rid of the bondo on those doors and you would not believe the good metal underneath it. What idiot's.

That's the difference between a fast "Plug & Patch" versus a good body job. If the metal is good and there aren't any creases then repair it right. Take it easy cleaning the "crap" off because you never know what you'll find and the damage that's invisible.

Hope it Helps.
