Hi folks
I am a retired machinist, although I do teach machining part time at a local community college. I used to drag race my 66 ss but now I am gathering parts for a frame off rebuild and upgrade. I am hoping to garner some knowledge and meet some other chevelle nuts.

thanx

Boy, does that pic bring back memories! Cragar SS wheels and bolt on ladder bars. With that hood scoop, I'd guess around '74-'76?

Welcome, George!

Welcome George,

I am going to take a guess at the vintage of that pic. How about 1982??

The picture of the 66, in my driveway, is from about 1982 or 1983. The car has a history of drag racing and only has 22k miles on it. The story was a salesman from Alabama blew it up in Illinois. Rather than wait for a factory replacement engine he tradded it in. A local mechanic bought it for his son who promptly got too many tickets. The answer was sell, or race it at our local strip. So it went from street car to race car. Other than changing owners a few times in the 70's and early 80's it has been raced. I raced it in various forms until 1993 or so, when I parked it with a hurt engine and I concentrated on my family and job. Now it has a new motor built for it and I am ready to do the frame and body. I want to make a street cruiser out of it. Thanx for the interest and support. It gives me energy to proceed.
