I have a 67 El Camino that I just bought and trying to figure out what PO has going on. Next to the fuse block there are two plugs, one with one wire and the other with two wires that are not hooked to anything, does anybody know what these go to?

The plugs are flat and the double plug has terminals side by side, the double plug has a red and a gray wire the single has a brown wire that goes through firewall and has a spade connector that looks like it used to go to coil, car now has HEI the redgoes to ign fused and the gray goes to bat fused in the fuse block.

is your brake warning light working ? cos that has a tan wire with a female rubber spade type terminal that go's through the firewall ? the old coil wire should have been a cloth insulated white wire (resisted) I can't find a red and grey on one plug yet.

My brake warning light does not work but the only wire out of these that goes through the firewall is the brown one, the red and gray run from the fuse box back to this one double plug about six inches away but they are all wrapped with old cloth elctricians tape. Kelley

if it's supposed to come out of the firewall and it's definately brown ? the only other brown wires I can see are for park lights and one to the voltage reg.?

well if the idiot light "gen" is working, it's probably just part of the loom and a spare ? good luck my friend and happy holidays.

Do the wires look anything like these (http://www.wiringharness.com/images/parts/10985.jpg)?

Yes that looks like them ,hard to tell with plenty of age and hanging upside down, but they look like the ones i am looking at, the red and black plug are the ones hanging loose and the other pig tails are plugged into the fuse box, plugged into ign. fused, andbat fused

That's a blinker tach harness.

Know I know why it is just hanging, I don't have a blinker tach but evidently this car did at one time! Thanks for the help, this car keeps throwing me curves!
