Guys, I know it's been a while since I posted any updates or info but I have a new idea on the break down of the Kansas assembly plant sequence number found on the trim tags. As many of you know I have several hundred on my list for research. While adding one this evening it became glaringly clear that when the VINs are in sequence that the last number of the Sequence numbers fall into an odd order. I'll try to explain it clearly, if you take the Build date (07A) and then check the sequence number you will find it never goes above 6 in the last position, this applies to all build weeks and all kansas tags I have listed to date. In all of those 07A build date cars the last position Sequence number will fall into order from 1 to 6 based on the VINs being in order. Sequence numbers might be 00211, 01212, 01582, and 03503, 03594, etc. The first four positions will start with the lowest number and continue sequentially to the highest with the same last position number and then start again at the lowest number when the last position changes to the next number (1-6). I now honestly believe that the last position is related to the week day of the build week that the car began to be built. The first four numbers relate to the specific number of the car built that day. If anyone has a 1969 Kansas built chevelle with the build sheet that might be able to confirm this it might help us understand them once and for all. I do know that a portion of the sequence number is either typed or hand written on the build sheet. Seems to make sense that they might work a six day work week and produce a specific number of cars by day. I have actually created a work sheet to break these numbers down and estimate the number of cars built and it seems to workout. I will try to put a copy together that I can email out if anyone is interested in seeing what I mean in a table, might help clarify it some. I welcome any and all comments on this idea. thanks guys, sorry it is so long. Andy
