I helped tear into an engine today that has a couple hundred miles on it since new bearings were installed. It had a low oil pressure problem. Started out a little low and just kept getting worse. He pulled it and I went over to check things out. All the rod bearings rolled in the caps. Looked awful. Mains looked decent. I broke out the mics and measured the rod journal and got 2.088". Popped out a bearing and it had STD on it. Turns out when he pulled the engine for cosmetic work to the car, he flipped it over and changed bearings, seals, and gaskets in the bottom. Somehow, he forgot the crank was STD on the mains but .010" on the rods. How it made a couple hundred miles and a few 11 second 6500rpm passes without grenading or damaging the crank baffles me.
