Heres my question, Can I still use the foam on this seat?
I bought some 1" thick foam sheets from walmart to add to the foam if needed but can I cut the slits in the foam for the side bolsters and still use this foam?

Tear those seats down and get some new Chevelle foam and new Chevelle seat covers. They will fit perfectly. You can build the old foam up with 1" foam yourself and trim it to look right but your seat of the pants feel will tell you that you skipped an important step. The old foam will still continue to break down and at an accellerated rate since you plan on giviing them some seat time now. Be careful when buying seat foams. One brand kicks you up into the headliner because it's tall and stiff. Unfortunately, I don't know who sells the correct foams.

Here is another aftermarket thing issue...the new foam is cool like he said...it is very expensive as well...and sometimes new covers and new foam doesn't do as well as you'd think it would...mainly because it's aftermarket...but that is all we have and it is superior to stuff that has been in a car for going on 40 years...the main thing about the old replacement seats that you have is to make sure all your springs are good and your tracks work. You can put the correct covers for your car on those frames BTW...they might hog ring in differently...but probably not...

Im gonna check the springs and if any are broke or rusty then they are getting replaced. The tracks are wrong so new ones will be bought, maybe, might make my own.
Hey 70 Gold Nugget do you have any of the foams and if you do how much will you charge for them?

I do not have any of the buns...just looking at your pics though you may be able to salvage a few more years out of what you got although I can't say for sure without actually looking at them in person...at any rate you will need to glue some foam or headliner material onto what you have in order to hold it all together and build it up some....a lot of times if I am reusing old stuff I will put a thin piece of cardboard on the frames and then put the buns on top of that...it helps firm the seat up and prevents the springs from burying into the old foam...more then likely if you have broken springs it will be the bottoms and is usually the side bolster springs...I not seen very many used seats at all that didn't have at least one or two of those broke...the are three middle springs on the bottom too...a lot of times at least one of those is broke on the driver's side...as far as the side springs let me know by photograph which one's are broke cause I have a few extra OEM ones...no middle springs though...If I can find the time and I am in your area I might try to stop by and give you some help one of these days Danny...what are you using for seats in that car now BTW???

hmm 1980 citation bench seat in it now, about 4" too narrow so you sort of set off to the center of the car.
