2000 GMC SAFARI VAN.
New pads, resurfaced rotors.
Whenever i brake theres a squeek that comes from both sides. i took off the brake pads dusted them and cleaned the rotors but they still squeek. I even sprayed them with breakleen. Anybody have an idea what I can do to get rid of the noise?

if the brake pads arent already chamfered take a file or sand paper and chamfer the top and bottom of the pads where they end this seems to help also disc brake quiet (or for that matter I have used lithoium grease) applied to the back side of the pads where theytouch the caliper. I would also scuff the rotors and pads lightly to break any glaze on them. Hope this helps

Did you stake down the ears of the outer pads?

Any sort of lube or spray designed to be applied on the back of the pads will help also. Are these ceramic pads?

What you need to do is disassemble everything on the front/rear end such that you have your front or rear brake pads in your hands.(assuming you have 4w/disc brakes) Then go buy some of the stuff, that I have attached the thumbnail of at, your local auto parts store.

You need to apply this to the metal back of your brake pads generously BUT NOT on the brake pad surface.

If you get it on the braking surface thats a bad thing.

After you apply it to the pads set them aside for an hour or so and let the stuff set up. Reassemble your brakes and the squeak will be history.
