: Relocating the ears on the rear end - Edelbrock
jfman Dec 18th, 06, 4:48 PM I was browsing thru an Edelbrock catalog and I saw braces that relocate the ears on the pumpking a couple of inches higher in order to solve wheel hop issues on Abodies.
Whouldnt a mod like tis make the pinion angle change exponentialy versus stock as the suspension moves up and down?
Anybody using this kit ?
BillsCamino Dec 18th, 06, 8:52 PM What you are referring to is known as "No hop" bars. I have a set of Edelbrocks on my car now that are coming off very soon.
And yes, the pinion angle is changed.
Bob Tiley Dec 18th, 06, 10:20 PM I have run a set for over 20 years. Worked great for me. Go rid of my wheel hop and hooks up much better. They don't change the pinion angle much because they move the mounting point up and also towards the front. Edelbrock makes them as well as Mr Gasket and others. Southside lift bars work the same way but relocate the lower mounting point further down.
Search for "No-Hop bars" or "Lift Bars" and you will find a lot of info here.
chevfan_1 Dec 19th, 06, 1:09 AM I had them on my car and when I took the rear out to have the gears changed took them off.Wish I didnt do it because it wheel hops bad now. When its nice this summer they will go back on.
jfman Dec 19th, 06, 1:11 AM So are they a better option than the extensions that go on the lower control arms ?
meesh Dec 19th, 06, 7:08 PM I just bought the Edlbrocks from Summit to install over the winter. I searched all the threads and everyone who installed them solved their wheel hop problem.
Hope it works for me......

jfman,
If you're looking for a set of Edelbrock no hops, I'll sell you mine cheap. And you're only across town so you could stop by and see how they're installed before I remove them. Been on my car a little over two years.

So... why are you removing them ? ;)
They are the same ones for a 10 bolt correct ?

Gonna try something different on my '70.
They are the same ones for a 10 bolt, correct ?
Yes!
Derek69SS Dec 19th, 06, 8:54 PM So are they a better option than the extensions that go on the lower control arms ?Depends on your ride-height...

jfman Dec 19th, 06, 8:57 PM Seems like a very good read up but It's too blury to read.. :(
Derek69SS Dec 19th, 06, 9:49 PM Sorry about that, the showroom automatically resizes the images. :(
If you go here, then click on it, it gets a little bigger, but you'll still need good eyes to read it. :clonk:

jfman Dec 19th, 06, 9:50 PM Ok thanks !!
jfman Dec 21st, 06, 2:37 PM BTW: Can this setup be used on a lowered car ? Wont the UCA hit the floo of the car ?
Derek69SS Dec 21st, 06, 2:42 PM On a lowered car, you'd be much better off lowering the lowers, instead of raising the uppers... on the other hand, with a lowered car, they're not nearly as necessary because wheel-hop is usually eliminated with the ride-height change alone.

But dont the lowers make you car ride weird ?
