Before I spend the money for seatbelts, I need to know which are correct. I'm assuming the bench front seat had retractor male ends on each end and a female latch up through the seat. I presently have generic replacement belts w/ no retract mechanisms. My other question is color. I have a Sandlewood interior and the shoulder belts look to be original by how faded they are and appear to have been Black. I know it was common for Black belts with White interior but I'm not sure for Sandlewood. Unfortunately I don't have a build sheet to tell me so a best guess at correct likelyhood would be appreciated.

Unless you're trying to do a completely "stock" car, I'd just go with what I think looks right. My guess is that they were probably sandlewood. You could get some new retractors (bring $$$$) and paint them to match with some SEM vinyl dye. Your local Sherwin William's Automotive paint store can mix a match for you. Here's a site that sells the belts & parts new. It'll cost you though. http://www.andoauto.com/Chevelle.htm

My 4 door 1971 parts car has green interior with black belts and I know its original. I would say it would be improbable that someone switched the uppers, especially since they were/are seldom used. Just my 2 cents

Thanks Jeff. I agree, by the looks of the shoulder belts, I'd say they were original. Besides, I think finding black belts will be easier than sandlewood.

First, I gotta say your website and cars are unbelievable! You are truly fortunate. My car has a factory front bench, so I guess I would need the outer retractor assys, the matching ends. Eventually I would get the middle and the three rears which were never there when I bought the car. Let me know what you got and how much you want. Thanks a lot!

Mike,
Thank you for you kind words.
I like to take care of my buddies on these sites.
Pricing will depend on dates, style and condition - starting at $25 per seat plus freight.
I will make sure they are beautiful and original. and below market pricing. :)
I have a ton of correct stuff for Chevelles.
That is because those retractors were widely used throught the entire GM line up. (not like Camaro which is Camaro and Firebird only)
I am sure I have the brown ones, and I have a lot of black sets- standard and deluxe .
If you tell me what your 1st choice of: color, style, and date would be -
I will dig through my collection - I still have over 50 sets or so.
I prefer to sell complete sets if possible - shoulder belts are optional.

Well I guess the brown would be my first choice. Complete set is OK and I not concerned with date codes/etc. Let me know here or e-mail me. I'll be away for the holiday so may not respond till next week. Thanks.
