I had some Cragar mags on my 69 and I used some Flitz metal polish and some #0000 steel wool to polish them up. Then just used a soft cloth to buff them out. Shined like chrome when I was done.

I have to tell you REAL magnesium that was used in vintage speed equipment or wheels, things like that can be polished, but expect the "green fuzz".

Magnesium WILL "tarnish" very, VERY quickly into a almost "moss" looking stuff that is commonly known among vintage car guys as "green fuzz".

If you think these parts are REAL magnesium, I would polish a little of something and leave it out in the weather a few weeks or months and keep an eye on it before you polish your heart out on them. smile.gif

Thanks for the replys guys! I found a trick set of injected molded magnesium SB chevy valve covers on e-bay. I e-mailed the guy and he already ended the auction.....sold.

My dad used to have some very trick magnesium framed snowmobiles in the late 60's. I asked him about them and he said they really corroded fast......he said they would have been a pain to keep looking nice. Thanks again...Cary
