I am reassembling an early 70's 454 and
came across 2 lift rings. One spans two
intake bolts and the other has only one hole.
Where is the correct location for these?

The two hole bracket goes to the drivers side front and the single hole goes to the pass rear of the intake manifold.

As JPM71 says the one w/two holes goes on the first 2 intake bolts on the drivers side. However, the one with a single bolt hole mounts on the rear face of the passanger side head, right next to the distributer. There is an acessory bolt hole there just like on the front face of the head.
It is said that if the intake is cast (LS5)the lift brackets should be chevy orange, and if the intake is aluminum (LS6)they should be bare steel due to the way the engines were painted at the factory. Sounds like your putting a nice one together!
