I have a package of header bolts that I was thinking of using to install my intake with. I have done this before in the past and so have my friends. They are a little shorter than the intake bolts that are in the package hanging on the wall at O' Riely's. Does this matter as far as leaks, ect...? What do you guys think? I guess I'm sort of a cheap Scott but I have these already, and I figure I need to save all I can and put it towards other parts of the build. This is for a small block BTW. Thanks -- Mac

How much thread engagement do they give you?

Yes it matters. Exhaust header bolts are NOT long enough to engage enough threads and then be torqued down properly. You'll just rip the threads out of your heads. I wouldn't advise that :)
