Been looking for a wagon project for quite a while. :(

Picked this car up in Indy yesterday...'66 Malibu wagon.

Spent it's entire life until 2 weeks ago in Arizona. Very solid, 98% rust free...small spot on one front fender lower and another on the driver's door exterior. Rest is all good...even the spare tire well is perfect.
Ugly baby blue color will be returned to the original "K" code Artesian Turquoise exterior. Interior is toast right now...40 yrs in AZ took it's toll. Replacing all this back with the original 777 interior... Med. Turquoise/Dk. Turquoise(two-toned) vinyl.
Originally a 327/PG/PS car...long gone.
Bonus, already have the perfect, castings date correct, mild, fresh 396/325 (402) sitting in my shop. Complete with cast intake, quadrajet, and exhaust manifolds. Plan to add a TH350/200R4 to complete the drivetrain.

Special thanks to Mike (Marooned) for meeting up with me, providing a second set of eyes, and a strong back when needed to push this onto my trailer. :beers:

Nice. Bill, I am looking for projects for the newsletter, interested? Send pictures and I will start another page for you. To tell the truth I'm getting a little restless. I need something to work on myself. I just cannot get excited about doing a wiring harness for my gauges.

Nice score Bill. I've been looking around for a 70 longroof myself to set along side the 2 door and the convertible.

Great score, Bill! So, you are another one of those closet long roof guys, huh. Can't wait to set that one roll into the Niagara Falls show in a yr. or so. Going to use it to tow "White Lightnin"?

Good idea, here’s a thought, do something really different, put a diesel in it. A Duramax out of Chevy pickup with the programmer to put out 600 HP.

wow! Very nice! My friends and family think I'm crazy, but I love wagons, especially the 66! Defiantly will be my next project! BTW: Really like the diesel idea! Saw on "Trucks!" yesterday them souping up a *ord diesel and they got it to spin the tires all day long...diesels have come a long way and would be interesting to see in a musclecar!

Thanks guys!

Glenn,
I may just consider that newsletter idea...my bro-in-law and I were looking the car over really good today and seriously discussed the two of us doing a frame off on it. We did one on my '67 Elky a few years ago aand it was fun. Plus, the wagon's underside and chassis are in such good condition it wouldn't be that difficult. I'm going to talk to my body shop guy this week and see what he says about working out a timetable schedule. I'd want the wagon finished by spring.
No diesel or tow vehicle though. It would be cool but one in the family now is enough. ;) In fact, the wagon has a towing hitch on it now that will be removed.
Thanks for the website you created!! If you're bored now, what are you gonna do for the next 6 months of winter up there?? :p

Hey Bill, nice wagon, that would be cool if you could get to Niagara Falls, or maybe Stratford in the fall. Daren

I guess we'll be seeing more of you in the PRO TOURING forum, 'eh?

Now you have the task of outfitting it with DVD players so the grandkids will actually sit in it. ;)

You don't know how jealous I am. I've been looking for a find like that for a few years. Every wagon I find is too much Body work or too much $$$. I thought I found one near my house. the guy said it was in great shape. I guess he didn't my all the rust around the back windows. I can't do body work yet, but I could find an engine.

Very nice wagon Bill! Sounds like it was a twin to my wife's wagon. Same original color, interior, etc... (except I think hers was a 283/glide)

I talked to the body shop today. I've got one month to get this car stripped and ready for them to do their thing. He's gonna drop the frame out for me while the car is there. That will give me a few weeks to get the chassis done and ready for rejoining the freshly painted body.
I love winter projects... :hurray:

Saw that one on e-bay a week or so ago. When I read AZ car, I got excited about it, till I found out it was now in Indiana and no engine. Good luck with one that "got away" from us here in AZ.

Thanks Bill. The car just left Williams, AZ on 12/6/06 according to the notorized signature and date on the AZ title.
We'll treat her good down here in the Deep South...promise.

BTW...spent a lot of time in the Tuscon area a few years back...my son was stationed in the black hole of Ft. Huachuca. Awesome sunsets!
