Looking into a 72 MC dash for my 70 Chevelle. EVERYTHING is there, Nothing has been cut. Even has the fuse block. Is this an easy swap to my 70 Chevelle? Looks pretty straight forward but not sure. It's a clock dash, No tach.
Do they make a tach that fits in place of the clock? Can you put small round gauges where the idiot lights are?

Not sure about specifics, but a 72ss Chevelle dash harness will not work on a 70ss. It can be done but there will be many changes that need to be done.

Maybe Steve Strasemeier (Steve S) will chime in. You may get more responses in the electrical section.

The difference is the fuse block, 70 and 71 are the same but 72 is very different. Your best bet is to get a dash harness from a 70-71 Chevelle SS or Monte Carlo and switch it out. It's a hassel to convert a 72 harness to work with a 70, ask me how I know. I had to reconfigure the entire fuse block from a 72 harness that I got with a gauge cluster off ebay that was suppose to be a 70 setup...it wasn't. I made my own diagrams just in case I ever have to do it again. The main things that are different are....the power feed into the fuse block from the 70 forward light harness does not match up with the 72 harness, the wiper motor wires need to be moved, etc...

So what you are saying is the under hood harness is different also, Correct? - It looks the same but i'm guessing the "pins" are in different locations? If it's a 71 it will swap no problem? - He has some kind of invoice or something from the car, I'll need to look at it better. The price on it was $4,972 or something. Had some nice options.
