Help please....have installed new rear glass in '69 coupe and in process have put in new molding clips. Have tried to attach molding, however, it will not stay clipped down and am befuddled. Seems as if the clips are not catching on the lip of the molding. These clips came from reputable supplier and appear to be same as the original clips. Thanks for your thoughts, ideas, etc....

Sounds like the glazing bead is too thick. Most guys use 5/16.

I did use 5/16 glazing bead (3M). Molding goes down into clip but pops back up. Can have, as example, one piece in perhaps 4 or 5 clips, the total for the piece of molding and it just pops back up. It seems to go all the way down into each clip......

I had the same problem with clips that as
you say looked like the originals. The problem was that the gripping part of the clip did not
protrude past the body of the clip. Hope this helps.

Malcolm and DN...thanks for response. The repro clips are definitely the problem. I "found" ten of original clips, reconditioned them and put them on and the molding snapped right in. No problem. Before doing that I spent a couple of hours trying to make the others work. Also went to NAPA and Chevrolet dealer here only to find same type of clips I had that would not work. Thanks again....
