I bought a reproduction fender for my 68. Came from Dyacorn, you know, the company that makes the crate camaro bodies? I've heard lots of good things about them, so I took the plunge and bought the fender, along with an SS hood...

I just noticed today that the very front of the fender is all muched up, look like it got that way when they put one of the brace mount things in it... I didn't notice it when I picked it up, and I can't take it back now because I took delivery... Can't hammer and dolly it out because the brace is there... My only option is find someone with a unispotter, or bondo...

So I proceeded to put it on anyway. Let me tell you, this is the most ill fitting piece of crap I've ever seen! What a waste of money, I'll never buy another repro fender! I hope the hood at least fits ok!

DII is known to suck. Goodmark & Golden Legion are much better. However, the DII (DynaCorn) rear seat pan fit like a glove...

Why don't ya just get a reproduction GM one, you should be able to order one at a Chevy dealer.

I went through 3 sets of fenders (goodmark) until I settled on what was "close enough".

all 3 sets were different. bodylines, contour, etc.

LF side looks pretty good. The right side terrible. I saw the goodmark chevelle up close a few years ago, and it was the same way. Funny how pics in mags make it look better than it really is.

Personally i think their all junk. But I guess you have to keep taking them back until you find the right ones.

I don't understand why you can't return...unless you already sanded or primed. Are you sure? Have you asked?

Repro fenders can really suck. Usually the contour of the fender doesnt match the door.Heres a nice write up from SOA Nova (Jim) from camaros.net. Helped me get my camaro fenders fittin nice.

The guy that hung the Dynacorn full rear qrt. on my '69 said it was one of the best fitting repo qrts. he had ever hung.

The body lines and the gaps at the door were dead on and required no additonal work to make a great fit.

I've never used a dynacorn fender, but I did put a Goodmark fender on a Z28 last year and it fet perfectly also.

Sorry your having trouble. If you havn't primed or painted it....take it back.

I never used one, but I know several people that have used Goodmark and swear by them.

Swear by them or swear at them?

You know, I have a pair of used OEM fenders on my 69. I had some of the very same problems that you are describing, and I still haven't been able to get the curve right at the front of the door. I think there is more involved in fit problems than just ill-fitting repro parts.

Check the link i posted above to solve the curve problem.

A golden legion pass fender was just installed on my 71, bought from OPG. It fit with a lot of adjustment. The curves look good. Need more Paint prep than expected but looks very decent as Car ready for Paint

As far as I know it was one of those "if you take delivery, you own it" kind of deals... Even if it wasn't I had to cut a notch in it for the front bumper to body filler panel. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go on, so I compared it with the old one... The new one's notch was only about 1/16, and the old one was about 1/4 or a little more. So I own it now, regaurdless.

Thanks for posting that link for aligining it fenders with the door curve... I thought I might be able to get it to match up or get closer by moving the bottom of the door out, and move the top of the door in... It's a little off.

Man that's too bad... I was under the impression that Dynacorn, Golden Leigon, and GoodMark were all made at the same place, just sold under different names. The only reason I went with the Dii one is because the closest GoodMark deal is about 45 minutes out, and he said it would take about 2 months, AND they didn't even make a 68 fender, only 69... The Dii guy is about the same distance away, but it only took about 3 weeks to get my stuff, and they had a 68 fender.

Ive never had problems with Goodmark fenders, Ive bought two pairs for my two 70s. I did make the mistake of buying some Dynacorn fenders because they were slightly cheaper. They looked like crap and fit like crap. I have some pics of Goodmark fenders installed on my link below...Eric

Dumb... Those Goodmark fenders look great on your car Eric! They just came out like that, huh? You didn't have to work them over? That really pisses me off... I did a search on here about Dynacorn, and didn't really see anything bad... I guess I should have searched harder. Well I don't have any money to just ditch this stuff and go buy a Goodmark, or GM fender, so I'm limited to using the Dii fender, or using my old really f-ed up fender... This is gonna put paint off for another year or two...

If I can use the Dii hood out of this deal I'll be happy... But man, it's going to be one EXPENSIVE hood seeing as the fender is trash... I'll take some pictures of the fender on the car tomorrow, and post them to see if maybe someone has some suggestions for me to "help it out" and get it to look at least halfway decent.

RCNJSN95 The you take delivery of the fenders you own them is bull **** only because you can't see every imperfections in 2 minutes or a manufacturing flaw of a missed or bad weld. But if the company has the policy then i say they will stick with it. But the question is how did you pay for the fenders, Check, money order,CREDIT CARD,Cash Well if you payed by check and it has not been cashed cancel the check, And then return the merchandise with receipt to them the only problem is next time try to order somewhere locally you can pick up because anytime you have to pay freight to ship to you these ass company will not want to pay freight back and loose money. But hopefully you paid by credit card get the guy or girl name you talked to that denied your return call you credit card company and under your credit card reserve rights you can return a item and if you are not happy with the quality of the item or the functunally of it you may return to the owner. An if the owner refuses a refund or exceptional exchange item you can refuse the charges under law and the company will not get the money for the fender. But if you did pay with credit card you need to act on this know call your credit card company because you only have i think 25 days to do it.

Sevt_Chevelle, I really like the integrated side marker lamp mod on your signature. I thought it was very creative and really smooths out the lines. I'd sure like more info on how you did that if you have it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I have goodmark Fenders, Doors, Hood and Trunk lid. On test fitting them, the Doors and Fenders are basically perfect. They line up very well to the Golden Legion 1/4's I installed. The Hood is warped and will need some major tweaking to fit right. The trunk lid fits like crap, but it's because the edges of the 1/4 panels still need cleaned up some and the edge of one trunk lid needs some shaving. Otherwise I'm happy:hurray: .

Ok so here are the pics guys... What do you think I should do with it? On a budget here, can't afford to go get a new fender for a few months, so i have to make this one as good as it can be for at least the time being... You can see in the first picture where it got mangled in the process of putting the front bracket/support thing on the front of the fender by the head light. You can see it doesn't really line up with the door... I think some of that can be remedied by adjusting the door IN on the bottom, and OUT on the top, but it won't fix all of it...

What is your opinion? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is the inner fender support on the face of the firewall up against the face of the firewall with no shims ?. If there are shims then removing them may close the top portion of the fender to door gap. If there are no shims then it's possible the inner fender support was welded too far back or possibly this area of the inner fender support is bent back. If there are no shims maybe a couple of well placed blows with a heavy hammer on this portion of the fender brace that bolts to the face of the firewall to where it is bent forward towards the radiator ?. It would require taking the fender off to do so.

Concerning the bulge out in the middle of the fender, as it sit's right now how good is the body line on the lower portion of the fender in relationship to the lower portion of the door and rocker sill ?.
It's hard to tell with the photo's but the one shot looking forward from the quarter panel it looks like the top portion of the fender by the A pillar is a little low. Try taking about a 2' long straight edge or even a straight paint stick and lay it on the top peak of the door and onto the fender to see if it needs to be raised at all. This may take out some of the bulge.

Are there any shims between the fender and the side of the cowl. I'm wondering if you might play with leaving some out to allow other bolts to be tightened and move the fender around some.

I'm also making these statements that the door is lined up properly with an even gap on the back edge of the door to the quarter panel and an even gap between the bottom edge of the door and the rocker sill ?. If the hinges or the door is not adjusted right then with door sag the fender to door gap will be wide at the top and tight the lower it gets towards the rocker sill and where it ends.

I don't know if you looked at what 70isfine linked to of mine but it might help. Also look at this:
