I know this doesn't belong here but we need all the help we can get!!

I'm helping a friend work on a 69 Firebird (Hey, I tried posting on a pontiac website but they couldn't help...). Anyway, where the rear leaf spring mounts (front mount) on the driver side we have a little problem. Basically the spring mounts to the framerail (which is rusted out and will be replaced) but it also mounts to a reinforcement under the floorpan. Does anyone know where to get that reinforcement? I'm assuming its the same for a Camaro as a Firebird. TIA!!

Try contacting Classic Camaro or Year One.

Once that has failed, try looking under Nova's from 68 on up (for several years). You may find that it's the same configuration and at that point finding something in a junk yard would be a lot easier.

You mean a floor pan brace?? you might get lucky and the might have them at year one or one of your other favorite parts supplier.. I'm envisioning the trunk floor brace too be the support your talking about.. but I know next too nothing about firebirds...

Having restored a 69 Firebird and 69 Camaro recently I appreciate your problem. Are you referring specifically to the "front mount brackets"? That is what the spring attaches to and then it bolts to the body. From the sound of it you may be referring to the part of the body this bracket mounts to.

You might want to try Rick's First Generation in Georgia at 800-359-7717 or www.firstgen.com (http://www.firstgen.com)

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies!

The part I'm referring to is not the actual bracket the spring mounts too. It's the 'brace' that is right underneath the floor pan. It's a thicker metal than the floorpan and is about 12"x18". I wish I could post a pic, but we don't have a digital camera...

Hi,
I work at a Camaro resto shop. Those front leaf spring mounts aren't being reproduced by ANYONE. Your only hope it to find someone to cut one from a clean parts car. More decent cars have been parted out because of this than for any other reason. Click on the link on my sig. We have many parts cars and may be able to cut on out for you.

My "Rick's" catalog is about two years old but they are showing the part you are looking for and it's "U.S. Made". Their part number is PP-13L and the price at that time was $57.95. Here is their part description "Replace rusted pans under rear seat, on top of front leaf spring mounts, approximately 21" x 21". Don't know if it is still available but it was a couple of years ago.

Good luck.

Don, I downloaded the latest Rick's catalog last night...I see the part you are referring to. I think we'll have to give them a call to see if that's really it. It sure looks like it tho! Maybe the old firebird's saveable afterall!

Jason, thanks for offering your parts cars to us. I believe we'll be contacting you as well, for these and possibly other parts.

Thanks to all.
