I know it's hard to tell from these photo's but any idea's info or anything else about this car would be great.
First off i'm not a camaro expert (chevelle lover:D ). The guy said the car is a 72, has a mid 80's 305 in it. It looks like early to mid 80's rims, never said what kind of tranny is in it(from the picture it appers to be an auto shifter?) said he has many, many new parts for the car and enough to make it 95% complete, He did say it would be a real nice driver but no show car:confused: . and that it comes with a new goodmark 2 1/2 cowl hood.
Any idea of what someone should be willing to pay? I know it depends on how bad someone wants it, but what is reasonable?

Thanks

My first car was a 70 Camaro, but it was in way better shape than that one. It was all original and had a straight body, no rust, 350 engine, nice interior, etc. I sold it for $4500 in 2000. My friend, who was the next owner, repainted it and turned it into a Z28 clone (badges and stripes only, nothing else). He sold it for $12000 in 2004, but I think the buyers weren't very knowledgeable about it's real value (probably closer to $8-10k). It was a plain jane Camaro, not an RS, SS, or Z28.

The car you have here also seems to be a plain jane Camaro, so not worth much unless in good condition. It has split bumpers, which is typically an RS indicator, but it doesn't have the extended nose piece, so the owner probably put the split bumpers on a base car.

With the missing quarter panel, need for a repaint, undesirable 305 engine, and fair interior, it's not worth much, at least in my opinion. The seller may have all the parts in the world, but unless you want a project, can do most of the work yourself (interior, bodywork, paint, engine swap), and you get it for cheap, it's probably not worth the effort in the long run. You can find another plain jane Camaro for less than it would cost to re-do this one.

Of course, I haven't seen the thing in person, so this is just my opinion. I wouldn't pay more than $2500 for it as it sits.

Thanks,
I haven't seen it in person either. He originally said he wanted to get $2500 hundred but in his last post he was asking for offers and said how about $2200?

Thanks for the info. Is there a way to tell what it really is or was, like you said he could have added the split bumpers ...etc.

I have a 327 sitting in the shed....:D

PS
What do you mean buy "the extended nose piece"? Have any pictures?

Here is a good place to ask about Camaro's.

I'd look in the Swap Meet there and see what similar stuff is going for.

I'd think it should be worth 2000.00. They seem to be gaining value like other muscle cars but, at a bit of a slower pace than 1rst gen camaros. JMO

thats a standard front end with RS bumperettes. RS would have had a ureathane nose piece with a different header panel, lower valance, the turn signals would have been round between the headlights and grille, different grill and grille trim too. But the RS nose was a option available on any camaro. Some folks think all the Z28s got the RS nose. but you could get the nose on a base 307 car. Jim

check out what parts he says he has and look real good under the car. He says "he has all the parts to make the car 95% complete" if thats so and it's not a rust bucket 2 grand sounds pretty fair to me.

Ok here's the deal.
The guy called me back last night (in the middle of my daughters 16th B'day party)
Anyway,
He said the car has sub frame connectors installed, and he has extra door glass, header panel(goes between the headlight over the grille), extra grille, new GM RF fender, trunk lid, spoiler, goodmark1/4 panel, full front bumper, and a bunch of other stuff.( could be the stuff is used beat up junk)
Oh and I THINK he said he had an poly nose clip.
No interior stuff. back seat was from a 77 buckets from 73.
He said the rear has 3:73 gears and a peg leg.
I asked about the floor pans and he said there area buy your left foot in the front was rotted and he was gonna put in metal and lay the carpet over it.
I asked for directions and He said, so in so from the board where I found the car came to his house and it's easy to find (well the cars still for sale, so is that an indication that the other guy didn't like what he saw)?? Hummm
I would hate to lose 3 hours of my time for junk, then again would hate to lose out on a decent project too.
I asked what he was asking for the car and he said $2200. Then at the end of or conversation I asked"what's the best bottom line you can do"? there was about 3-5 second silence and he said "well like I said, the hood is brand new and cost me $500 bucks, If you don't want the hood you can have the original flat hood, the car & all the parts for $1900".
OK,
The hood is worth/cost $500 but I don't see the car in it's present state or condition being worth $1700. Maybe $1500 including the cowl hood that would be $500 for it and a $1000 dollar car.
Am I WAY off base with that thinking?
Apparently he had a crate 350 motor in it, because he said he pulled it out because he would never have gotten the $4500 dollars for it like he was asking...
Any thoughts in this new info? I'm thinking unless he comes down on price I'm gonna have to take a pass on this one. there a LOT to be done on this car for that money.
PS,
He did say it was a base camaro with the split bumper added.

Looking at it it looks like its worth at least $2k. The early second gens are going up in price pretty quickly, Im sure you could turn around and sell it on ebay if you wanted for more. If he has the RS front end those are worth alot, I recently sold just the urathane front nose piece for $400, and had alot of inquires on the rest of the front end pieces (though I ended up selling them with the car, which was pretty much junk just to get rid of it) If you dont want the hood $1900 seems like a good deal to me.
