Anybody know who makes the best ones to cure the cancer in the fenders. Tried searching but no luck finding any info.

We used the ones from OPG. They worked very well.

We have noticed in the various posts on this site that some go with OEM fenders and do repairs, and others go to Goodmark fenders instead of the repairs. Who Knows What Is The Best?

When we get ready for our final paint, we will then decide what is best for us. Thru much sanding and Epoxy Priming and sanding and priming, and on and on, we feel our fenders are as perfect as possible. Are they as good as a "New" Goodmark Fender?"

Hope this helps.

ss...

I know this is not the place but you have no email address listed.

I have front patch panels with braces (both sides) purchased new from Year One. I lucked out and found very clean new fenders and no longer need the patch panels.

If you are interested in buying them, email me.

LVMAXX:
Can you tell me how is the detail and fit of the OPG patches?
Does the bottom of the part where it attaches to the chassis have the same bends as the original?
Are the bends as tight as the original and is the shape the same?
thanks T.C.

Where can you get sheetmetal for making small repairs without having to put in a patch.

What is the best gauge metal to use as well for fenders. I just noticed some rust coming back on my 1/4 where the panel is overlapped by the gas tank. I don't want to have to replace the entire 1/4.

It turned out great. The bends have more of a round effect.

Hope this helps.

Goodmark makes the best sheetmetal. All of it is EDP coated and is the best quality out there. Period. If they don't believe it's up to snuff, they will not sell it.

Sherman will sell you patches and sheetmetal all day long. I would consider them as a LAST resort. They ship bare metal (no primer and/or coating) and are usually heavily greased to stop the rust... which makes one wonder just how long ago they were made. The differences are clearly evident. Personally it's not something I'd put on a car for myself.

OPGI uses Goodmark mainly. I believe these are the only two MAJOR manufacturers of sheetmetal out there. Not that it matters really, it's all made in Taiwan anyways... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

ss396boy :
I would have allready ordered GoodMark if I could find a part number?
If you have a good part number PLEASE give it to me so I can get them ordered?
I guess I will just cut up what I have to make the repair.
thanks T.C.

It doesn't look like they make the patch panels. Not sure if they even have fenders for 69's

Yep thats the problem, and what is out there looks like a kid bent it at metal shop class.
I will just use the metal off the repo. parts to patch mine.
It's going to be tough though, I will have to rebend the edges because the radius isnt tight enough and its not even flat going into the radius either.
$50.00 FOR A PIECE OF SHEET METAL!!!

Is there a good supplier for a complete fender? Goodmark doesn't produce any front fenders for a 69. How about any one else?

We just fixed a set of fenders with some 22 ga. stuff from home depot. It cost about $10 and worked really well. The hardest part was getting the contour just right before welding. (The hardcore resto guys will probably FREAK!)

Are the fenders from GM any good or are these the same repops that everyone else is selling?
