What would be the correct color to paint the gas tank? It has a medium gray on the top side which looks to be the original color.

The medium gray is correct.
My car is almost rust free... (Only rust is on the deck-lid)
My gas tank still has the original color and it's medium gray.
You color you have on top is the original one.

Hey Gary!
I bought some Eastwoods "tank-tone" to test the color. Dan (Mr. GTO) bought some silver zinc generic spray and we couldn't tell the difference, except for the price.
Stop by the shop and ask Dan what brand it was.

For the sake of correctness, the tanks are actually a galvanized finish.
