Good afternoon,
this weekend I will be looking at a 388 sbc with some good parts, scat crank, srp pistons and such.
The only thing that worries me is that its been filled with Hard block up to the water pump inlets.
While good for strength, may it not affect cooling properties in a street driven vehicle? Acc to present owner "no problem, use an oil cooler".
I do plan on running a high flow waterpump.
Proven facts from experienced people will be very appreciated!

Best regards
Mats, Sweden

He's right. Coolant temp won't be an issue, however oil temp will be. You'll have to run an oil cooler if you do any extended street driving. My old 422 was short filled and never had any coolant issues, but oil temp would always start to creep after about 10miles of light footed driving. Heavy footed driving would run the oil temp up right quick.
