Days away from getting my 70 Chevelle painted. This shop is using the PPG "global" system which I'm told is pretty leading edge stuff. They've been using this system for quite awhile. Today they showed me the color which has been custom matched to the original Forest Green color on my car. They said it took some effort to be comfortable that they were getting it right as they had help from PPG home office and local rep. Since the car was taken stripped to metal and now primered it is nearly impossible to tell how close we are to the "correct" Forest Green. The car had been repainted once in the Forest Green so who's to say that repaint was right on the mark. We can hold it up to some remote areas that had some overspray but that doesn't seem like a good benchmark. The color looks a little dark to me. I have a swatch of it on a stirring stick. Any suggestions how I might better pin down the correct color? Anyone out there that has Forest Green 70 Chevelle that might have used the PPG global system?
