I had a firstone separate/explode under the front of my velle last summer, it tore the inner plastic fender up really bad, but I struggled through till the end of the season with it. I have purchased replacement inner fenders, plastic like the orginals, and hope to be able to install them myself. I have a reasonable amount of machanical experience and a little body/fender experience.
my question is this. I assumed I'd have to remove the fenders to install the inner fenders, but resently I saw an old magizine piece where they were working on a late 60s velle, and althought not directly related to the job being done, they mentioned that they removed the inner fender while they were working on the project. The picture shows the car with the inner fender removed and the front fender is still on the car.
Can I remove and install the two inner fenders without removing the front fenders? Boy would that save time and hassle. I plan to replace both while I'm at it, bought a pair and the originals are both cracked. Also, should I use a bigger washer, or maybe a rubber washer on the mounting points to keep the replacement fenders from cracking like the old orginals eventually did?
thanks in advance
