My Lunati cam has a built in 6 * of advance when installed straight up. To gain a little piston to valve clerance on my intake i advanced the cam to the 4* advance keyway on the cam sprocket which turns out to be more like 5-6*. Got my clerance now but was wondering what the affect will be on the way the motor runs?

It`s always been my understanding that advancing the cam will lower the power band some and also create more cylinder pressure and produce more low end torque.

When I was installing my Lunati, either the CAM or the timing set was off a little (approx 1.5º). What I found was advancing the CAM reduced my Intake valve clearance.....

My Card says only 4º ground into the cam... you must have a later model cam.

Right advancing closes intake clearance, retarding closes exhaust clearance.
