I bought a quart of DBC500 clear to "seal" my cortez silver base coat before I apply the stencils and spray my patriot blue stripes over the silver on my hood. Eric gave me some advice a while back and I wanted a refresher on the specific procedure. I would also like some tips on smoothing my "orange peel" and buffing to a glass shine.

Thanks in advance guys......... ;)

Well DBC500 reduces down with DT reducers in a 1:1 ratio. Choose the DT rated for your temp ranges. I would NOT use DT860 as it flashs off way to fast, stick with 870 or 880, Id go with 870.
After you sprayed your silver allow it to flash off or dry for about 15 mins then apply your DBC500 in light to med coat. Appling the DBC500 over the silver puts a protective coating over it preventing tape lines when you procede to apply the stencil kit for the stripes.

Allow the DBC500 to flash off for roughly 15 mins(time will depend on temps and other factors)then you can apply the stripe kit. The recoat window on DBC500 is 24hrs, so waiting longer then 15mins wont hurt nothing. But 15mins is the minumal time Id go.

I used this method all the time doing two tones when I sprayed PPG, but now I work at a new Ford dealership doing just metal work and no painting graemlins/hurray.gif ...Eric
