: '66 Chevelle original radiator???
1966_L78 Dec 13th, 06, 2:03 PM I just bought a '66 small block car, but the radiator is different than most (althought I have seen it in a few '66s).
Sorry, I forgot a picture, but I'll describe;
The radiator has the offset, angled cap like a factory BB car, BUT its on the other end and angles tot he front (instead of to the rear)... Its like a BB tank was turned around BEFORE the upper hose nipple was attached...
Most Small block cars I have seen (or recall) have the cap centered in the radiator, and not angled to the front or rear...
"Heavy Duty" radiator option?
The car is a wagon, NO factory A/C but aftermarket A/C may have been added at some time (there are two extra "hose" holes in the firewall)...
keithb Dec 13th, 06, 5:00 PM is it a Harrason?
1966_L78 Dec 14th, 06, 12:09 PM Yes, its a Harrison. Looks just like a '66 BB, but with the tank turned around (of course, the hose inlet would be on the wrong side if that was the case).
What is it with the Harrison? I have been searching, but only find the references for the BB/Harrison. I have a Harrison with a leak, but it has the filler cap slightly angled towards the engine and it's towards the driver's side, but on the top, not on the corner. My engine isn't original, but I think everything else is... and it has the stock location (driver's side) coolant overflow tank...

I don't think ANY '66 Chevelles had a coolant recovery tank... the tank on the dirver side is probably the windshield wiper/washer fluid jar... BUT, it is often used as a coolant recovery tank because its convenient...
I don't recall Chevelle radiators having caps at the corner. As you described, on the top, but closer to one side of the other... standard SB (and 6's?) radiators usually had a 'centered' cap radiator... The BB is offset to the drivers-side, and angled slightly, but still on the top... A BB radiator will bolt into a SB, and are usually bigger, better cooling... Maybe someone replaced the radiator...
My radiator looks just like the BB, except with the tank turned around (cap on top, but toward passenger side, and angled to the front a bit)...
I am thinking this might be the factory optional HD radiator (RPO Vo1?)

Maybe El Caminos are different? It's definitely stock and mounts in a bracket on the driver's side fender vs. the winshield wiper/washer fluid jar, which sits in the bracket on the radiator support. i wish i could post some photos...
or maybe it's not a 'recovery tank'? It's a reservoir tank that is connected via a tube to the filler neck.
