I am running mb quartz 6x9 in the package tray the sound deflects off the back window but then again I have a 67. I would recommend good quality 6x9 2 or 3 way speakers inth package tray you will be happy.Dennis

As above, a decent high power head unit, pioneer, kenwood, sony etc. there all good, a small amp if you can afford it around 50w rms (if not get it later) and a pair of realy good 6 X 9s boston's, infinity, etc. the best you can afford, don't scrimp on speakers, a good set of 6x9s on the back shelf sound great !

300 isnt much in the world of car audio. It is all gonna depend if you want to add more later and how much. As stated before a 6x9 2 or 3 way should do the trick and I am a big fan of jl audio but they are not cheap.

Now when you say in the package tray, do mean for me to cut them into it or put them in a box and set them there. Face towards the back of my head or up at the window/roof?

Flush mount them on the rear parcel shelf, if you put them in boxes they will lack bass, treble will reflect off the rear winow fine, you can always go for 6 inch round speakers, good ones sound o.k. but if you want as much bass as possible without a sub, go for 6x9s, on a 64 you'll have to cut the oval holes out, there are several methods for doing this.
