Are the vent window frame assemblys the same between the 2 dr hardtop and convertible? Does anybody know where I can get a nice set for my 2dr hardtop?

I don't think they're the same.

A guy calling himself "The Emissary" has a website with info on which venty assemblies interchange. Lone Star Classics or something like that. I looked at the site years ago. You might get the URL from Google.

What is the difference?

What is the difference between the hardtop and convertible? Should be the same. I have spares from both, I am going to have to compare them.

Thats my feeling also. Have sets of both and do not see a difference.

Now I'm confused, Should I buy the convertable set or not?

I see no reason why they would be different. I know on 66-67s the doors are the same between the hardtop and vert, and they have the vent window..also for 70-72 the doors are the same between hardtop and convertible.. I just have never myself tried the 68 parts interchange. I would say there is more chance of them being the same than not. I would buy them if the price is right.

OK, I'm home now, so I was able to run a Google search on The Emissary (Lone Star Classics). It took me about 4 minutes to find the right page.

His site isn't very organized, but has some useful info. I don't know how accurate it is, but I think it's gonna be somewhat accurate (since he seems to live in junkyards).

I can't find any info on whether the entire door or the venty frame interchanges, but it does say that the glass interchanges. So I think it will fit, based on that.

hardtop and convertable are definately different
they look almost the same but they dont line up the same
also there is a drip rail on the convertable vent frame as for the glass itself I'm not exactly sure but with everything else that is different about them I wouldn't chance it

Tom is correct. I have a 68 El Camino, a 68 4dr Sports Sedan, 2ea 68 2dr Coupes,and a 68 convertable. They are different.

Tom and Paul, Could you please state where the differences between the HT and Convt. is? It would be nice for everyone to know so these type of mistakes aren't frequently made. Thanks.
