: Whats It Worth With New Motor
DOUGKOOL2 Dec 12th, 06, 8:43 AM HI, JUST WANT SOME OPINIONS ON MY CARS CURRENT WORTH. 1970 SS 454 CHEVELLE LS5. MUNBERS MATCHING RESTORED CAR AND I HAD THE MOTOR REMOVED AND FULLY RESTORED. I PUT IN A BRAND NEW 454 FROM THE ENGINE FACTORY $10,500.00. HAS THIS PROCESS ADDED TO THE CARS VALUE, DECREASED IT'S VALUE, OR IS IT ABOUT THE SAME. I BOUGHT THE CAR LAST YEAR FOR $40,000.00.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THIS. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/2/web/2486000-2486999/2486708_3_thumb.jpg

If you do not have the original motor installed in the car in my opinion it will decrease the value of the car subsantially. It will still be worth good money but no longer #'s matching. I don't quite understand your post. Did you rebuild the original motor and still have it. Did you install the new motor to drive it? If you have the original motor also then thats what will make the car worth the most money without a doubt.
JimB Dec 12th, 06, 12:07 PM Hello , I was wondering why you think this car is worth more money with orignal engine??/ just wondering Jim B. I think the car is worth the same as it was before you put the 454 in.:hurray: :hurray: :(

???? were you asking me that? Do you think an original ss w/ a new motor is worth as much as an original ss with the #'s matching motor? Maybe I'm missing something here. I guess it is up to who's buying it.
jfkheat Dec 12th, 06, 11:14 PM The original engine in a restored car will always ad value to the car. If the car were highly modified it might be a different story. If you still have the original engine, DO NOT GET RID OF IT.

Chris R Dec 13th, 06, 1:22 AM I would say that if you put a new engine in it along with keeping the original engine. It certainly wouldnt loose value, anyone could put the car back to stock if they wanted. Now you can drive the thing without having to be concerned with an original engine taking any damage if you decide to run it on the strip or whatever.
DOUGKOOL2 Dec 13th, 06, 10:32 AM sorry that is wasn't clear. I had the original matching number motor restored and stored, the new 454 is for driving and showing the car. The matching numbers motor is safe and sound and could be put back into the car if and when i sell or it could be sold with two motors. Would the two motors raise the value?
Dean Dec 13th, 06, 10:47 AM With two engines, the original plus the new one, the value definately would have increased quite a bit from whatever it was worth before the engine transplant.
In the future it would be worth less if the original engine doesn't go with the car.
1969 Chevelle Dude Dec 13th, 06, 11:03 AM Make sure your stored motor is in a nice dry place or it will rust and seize up.
