Has anyone ever installed hardtop quarter panels on a 66 chevelle convertible? Can the sail panel area of the hardtop quarter be removed and the new quarter attach to the convertible body in some way? They look close from the pictures, but unfortunately I do not have a 66 hardtop handy to compare.
Thanks

Yes, you can modify the 1/4 by removing the sail. Its different above the trunk curve so go slow .

They cut off the sail and fit it to what you have....a little tip from past experience. Measure, mark and cut your holes for the rear quarter window fuzzies before you weld that sucker in and also get your measurements for your "Super Sport" trim holes before you toss the old quarter.
Don't ask how I know this......

You may not want to take the 1/4 off all the way to the window fuzzies. If I remember correctly the 1/4 is different in this area on hard top to vert. Take a good look at it.

I had to replace the driver's quater on mine just last month. Got the skin out of National parts depot. It welded in nicely. If you need a replacement inner wheel well though. they don't make replacements for the converitble. We had to fabricate a new one.

I picked up two of the dynacorn 90 percent quarters last week. The quarter window fuzzy area and the flange for the trunk filler panel is different from hardtop to convertible. I plan to seam the quarter in around the quarter window and near the filler panel flange. Should weld in with little warpage. Lots of body lines close. I'll post once I get into it. I am still working on floor pans.

Jeff - Thank you for the photos - I hope to do the same to mine some day. I thought I read somewhere that the convertible quarters stuck out wider than the hardtops - like if you were looking down from above the trunk, the distance from the trunk to the outer most edge of the QP was different? I'm clearly not speaking from experience - just repeating what I heard.....

Hey Jeff,
I am not sure why it happened, but, my "body guy" installed my quarters in a similar fashion with the seam on the top of the quarter. Now, the problem arose when it got hot out, the sun beating down on my black car you could actually see the joint where he welded the thing together. Not sure if it was some filler that was swelling with the heat or what but it sure was ugly...
When it was cool you could not find it to save you backside..
Car is gone now so it is someone elses problem..
