Hey guys,...

I did my second paint job just a few weeks ago. It was "practice" (i guess) on my 1997 Grand Prix. The paint job is pretty decent,... no drips and not much overspray. I want to repaint my chevelle but the quality of my paint job is just not there yet. What's the secret to laying a good coat of paint. I'll be honest, I shot the car outside but it was in an area where the air didn't move all that much and it was on a beautiful 70*F day. The problem I'm finding is that, as I'm buffing out the paint it seems as though theres like waves in parts of it, and theres little spots that look like little dropplets of water in the paint/clear that won't come out. It almost looks like little air bubbles under the paint or something. Whats this caused by? I used a Kirker Urethane blue metallic paint.

With out pic's it's hard to tell what you are talking about. But the wave I think you are referring to is the pattern that you used. It is caused by the metallic being heavier in one spot. It takes practice to get it down. Several things can cause this. Being to close, your pattern is not overlapping, staying one direction, and so on. Bottom line it is spray technique. Are these spots or bubbles? The spots could be several things. One is water (condensation). Did you use water traps in line and filter at gun? Another, dew since painted outside. Bubbles could be solvent pop or some clears if you put to many coats on will bubble. There are others on here that can explain better then I. They will probably chime in later.
