Hey guys,
Doing a SS dash upgrade to a 72 chevelle. I have the original radio but want to put something modern in the glove box. Does anyone have photos or mounting instructions on how to do this.
Thanks,
Dave

Under dash works well also, then the remote will still work......

I put one in my 72 Malibu. Cut a cardboard pattern then used a peice of aluminum for the face. I made some little L shaped brackets to hold it in place. Take the dash pad off. It's easy to work with.

That was from 2000 or so and they used the Xantech repeater system and there are other companies out today which offer lower pricing, smaller parts, and as good of quality.
I've installed a few of the ones from Aamp Of America (Peripheral part # PVIRT) and dealer cost is about $20.00. It operates on 40 and 56Khz frequencies and has a 17' cable (and 12 volt based).
However you mount the player in the glove box or wherever, make sure the unit is supported properly and not just off of the mounting sleeve. Add a backbrace material to make it a solid mount.
