I was checking out this 3855962 Block for sale and was wondering if it was worth it. The Block is a Fresh Bore, 30 Over and ready for assembly. The date code is B 26 6 and its been decked a little, But you can still see the Pad stamping, its a EG 4 speed code. Now I have a 1967 Chevelle, Did the L78 Chevelle have this casting?? How much is too much to pay for this??? He wants me to make him an offer, But He knows what its worth and I don't want to insult him by low balling it too much.

I would think that block would be worth some good cabbage! Not many around. There was one on e-bay last year but I don't remember what it ended up at. Bidding started at $500 and it ended over $1000. Maybe $1200?

Can you see the vin# on it? I know it doesn't help you but it'd be nice to get it back with it's car...if at all possible.

I told a friend about it and he offered me $1500 for it and I hadn't even bought it yet. The only part of the PAD stamping left was a 2 then EG whick makes this a 4 speed Block Spec High Perf., I've never seen one for sale on Ebay, Not too many 396 4 Bolts around, Atleast I haven't found many

I watched many sell (and not)on ebay . I would say the block is worth $1000 easily by what I have seen people paying for them. Most of the ones U see are early 66 blocks dated Aug-Dec 1965 and have EF (360HP stick) code. I would think an EG block would be worth more. With the block being cast early 66 it could only be an EG block or a service block. I just paid $800 for a fresh .060 #961 "EG" 4bolt block just because the block had no VIN# stamped on it. Offer the guy $900 he can only say no.
