What is the best way to install the drip rail moulding on '69 coupe? Are there any tricks to getting the moulding on with bending the moulding or messing up the paint? Should you start at front or rear when putting on? Thanks for any hints or advice.

I find it easier to start at the front...hold the molding up to the gutter and slip the first foot or two over the front end of the gutter. Use a rubber hammer to gently tap the molding down over the bottom of the gutter. Continue that process making sure you have the top of the molding fitted over the top of the gutter before tapping the molding over the bottom of the gutter. Easy deal and as long as you don't get crazy with the rubber hammer, you won't damage the molding.
As far as damage to the paint, keep in mind that the molding is a pressure fit. Under the best of circumstances it is a very snug fit. Some light scratching of the paint may be unavoidable, but with a little luck there won't be any. Due to the pressure fit, there are no guarantees. Just follow the installation procedures as best you can.
I just put them on my 69 coupe, and due to the hook at the quarter window I would strongly suggest you start at the rear.
If you start at the front and it's in the wrong place you will either bend it trying to move it or chip your paint trying to move it.
The coupe has a hook at the quarter window so you need to get the placement for that and then work your way toward the front.
I also would not use anything other than your hand to gently press them into place,
I tried a 2x2x6 piece of wood and a rubber hammer, all that did was put shallow dents at each the end of the wood.
All I can say is that it kinks/ripples very easy, you may not notice it untill you sight down the rail and see it waving back at you.
Hope this helps ? graemlins/beers.gif
