Well I'm finally putting it back together after what seemed like forever painting it. Yeah!!! I got to the tailight extensions and I noticed that there's this little groove on them where they mate with the quarter panels/body. Is there a piece of rubber or plastic that's supposed to go in this groove? Or is it actually supposed to be there to "catch" the sheet metal of the quarter panel? Everything came in a box for this car (actually a lot of boxes) so I never saw these installed.... Thanks for any info Lance

Lance, On my 67 Chevelle there is a cut, thin, hard foam rubber gasket that goes in between the ext. and the fender. I'm sure your 66 needs these. There cheap at about 8 bucks a set.

Thanks ! I knew that groove had to be there for something.

I think the originals might have been plastic... Like the door mirror gasket...

1966_L78 is correct. The original seals for the quarter extensions don't look anything like the repro ones available. Not that it matters all that much since, you can't see them anyway.
