Just a quick question about what others do. I needed to pull the carpet and sound deadner out of my 68 SS 396 to put a horseshoe shifter in. I also wanted to check out the floorboards to see how they were. Thankfully all looks good, but I want to know what do others do with the floorboards. Should I paint them, or leave them the way they are. They look ok, they have some glue residue from the rubberized sound deadner ( which will be replaced) and a couple of the floor pan drain plugs are loose. I also wanted to know what to adhere the drain plugs with on the floorboards. They look as if they had some sort of glue, or silicone type material there before. Thanks for the help I appreciate everyones advice.

Clean the drainplugs well, and use a seam sealer. 3M makes some that is Tan in color and takes a day or so to cure enought so that it wont squish out. The 3M brand you can purchase at your local paint supply shop and works in a caulking gun.
