Ok guys, I'm getting ready to clean up all of the above. They've already been stripped and I threw on a light coat of cheap paint to keep things from rusting. I plan on cleaning them off, filling the rough spots and giving them a coat of paint.

What's the best filler to use for something like this? I'm looking for something that dries quick, fills well and sands easily. I also need something I can get locally to as I want to do this on the weekend..........

I need some type of seam sealer too........I want something I can smooth out and still retain the factory look, but much neater.

Once it's all done, I'm gonna spatter paint the trunk and just do the floors and firewall with Krylon semi flat black. The whole nose is disassembled so it shouldn't be too much trouble and it's come out good before.

As always, any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!!

sounds like you've got a pretty good game plan.

Do a search for "seam sealer" and you will find some great advice.

I can't help with the filler...sorry

I totally agree with the Krylon Semi-Flat paint.
I used Eastwoods "Underhood black" on Amyes Z28 and it is exactly the same color as the Krylon.

One word of advice is to spray a coat of the semi-flat black in the trunk before you spray the spatter paint. I think you will be much more happy with the results. Last show I was at the trunk of the 72 SS beside me really blew mine away. He said he sprayed it black before the spatter and it looked fantastic.

Take a look at the subframe here. I have about 35.00 in the paints. It was my first try at it and I think it turned out fairly nice. Z28 subframe (http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/dwaynes69bb/AmyesZ28resto.shtml)

Good Luck.

seam sealer - either the eastwood or 3M. Dont be afraid to prime under the seam sealer.
body filler - evercoat "rage" is a great filler for any body work.

very good idea to prime the trunk prior to spatter paint as it gives it a good base.
