Went to Bradenton Motorsports Park today, the weather was awesome !! Got new personal best N/A and on the bottle. Found out the car REALLY like more launch RPM (2000) Off the trailer it went a 10.80, then raised launch still using footbrake.

NA run

1.52 60'
4.39
6.78
101.97 MPH
8.88 1000'
10.66
125.22 MPH

Best bottle run was ..

1.40
4.100
6.37
107.11 MPH
8.38 1000'
10.08
130.83 MPH

I seriously had never expected this today. I am really happy. 9's are right around the corner. I was spraying 73 square jets in a cheater plate with 6 psi fp and 33* timing

Had some beer to celebrate, should have vid up tomorrow night. WOW I am so stoked looks like its all starting to come together.

:beers:

Basic set up is ...

# 468 ci. Big Block Chevy
# 4" Stroke Steel Crank
# 049 Oval Port Heads (Ported)
# Crower Stainless Rockers
# Comp Cams Titanium Retainers
# Comp Springs
# Comp Solid Flat Tappet Cam
# Cam Specs 262 270 dur. @.050
# .636 .638 lift
# 108 deg. Lobe Separation Angle
# 12.7:1 compression, TRW Pistons
# Edlebrock Victor Jr. 454 O Intake (Ported)
# Pro-Systems 850 Carb.
# 2" Hooker Headers

It's got 4.10 gear in a 12 bolt, with Moser internals and Morrison No Hop's. TH 400 trans. Here (http://billcondie.com/crob/mycar.html) is a link to my website with some pics and more info.

The 73 jet is around 170 HP per NOS. The belt is still flying off so we had to install a WP drive at the track to keep running. Looks like it's an alignment problem and I may be installing a serpentine belt.

Thanks a lot guys, this has been a long time coming for so many reasons. This motor was built in 2000 and this makes 48 runs on it since. I have Cystic Fibrosis and had a double lung transplant in May of 2004 so to finally meet some of my goals after all this is...well, really feels good. :hurray:

Looks like I'll have to talk to my Doc about signing off for my competion liscense.

:D

Congrats.....gotta love nitrous. I bet if you pull a little FP out out the nitrous tune it will break into the 9's. Make sure to do a plug read first though.

Congratulations!!! What was the previous best, and what have you done since then?

Thanks Bob. Previous best was 11.25 NA when the belt came off, in August, so that would compare to yesterday with the electric w/p drive. The 60' is better by a tenth by leaving higher, we also jetted to 93 from 90 square and used -8 plugs instead of -7 which is what I was running before NA. Seems to really like more jet. We went to 94 and slowed down a bit so I put it back and sprayed the car next, and I think i may have hit the chip at the top of first on that one. (10.23)

On the next pass we took out 1/4psi of fuel. Gap was .032 all day. I was running .026 on spray before. We ran the bottle pressure at 950, last time it was around 900. This makes 4 good bottle passes in the 1/4. Basically just very small things and some good weather. Probably a little tail wind too. The previous best 1/8 bottle pass was a 6.58 @ 103 w/1.45 60', in good air. So we got .02 and 4 mph from that. The tune on that pass was 73n 82f 32* and 6psi fp , bottle pressure isnt logged. Now I run 73 in both sides of the plate. Yesterday the weather was 76* 31 % humidity and 30.30 barometer at 3:00 PM, first pass temp was 62*

Looking at the vid I feel pretty confidant the 10.08 pass would have been a 9 if the car would go straight, which is NOT HAPPENING. It moved over nearly a whole car to the left out of the groove. We had 20 psi in the air bag on that pass.

Anyone who is/was using air bag's chime in here with what you are doing for pressure, I need to adjust my bandaid. LMAO

Thanks, we are thinking the same thing about the fp, ran out of time though or we would have. I was the last car down the track as it was. LOL You know Mike Flynn is getting a call Monday.

I never went that high in the right air bag, usually 10-12 psi worked for me. Can you say HRpartsnstuff bolt-in antiroll bar?

I will probably wind up with a weld in style, not sure when I will have the $$ for that though. I am going to try for a 9 sec pass without changing the nitrous jet. Going to rewire the car too and make a few other small changes for next time, including a new driveshaft, this one just became the spare. LOL

Rob,

Congrats on the new bests!

Thanks for posting your runs. My car has gone 107.+ MPH in the 1/8th on motor, but only 6.69 ET due to converter issues (1.64 - 60'). Your passes give me a pretty good idea what to expect once I get everything dialed in :)

I'm hoping to make some 1/8th mile passes today if the weather and wife cooperate ;)

What are your converter issues ?

Thanks for the props, and for the record, this car is FAR from "dialed in", but is showing major progress now.

Rob,

The converter manuf. had it stalling about 900 RPM below peak TQ and then I damaged the sprag.

I had the converter adjusted, but I still don't think they moved it enough. We'll see when I get it back to the track. Rained out today. Next weekend is the last shot or I will have to wait a month or two for the tracks to open back up.
