Quite honestly, the splice can be anywhere. I have seen original cars with the spice on the left side, right side, in the middle, etc. The bottom middle looks the neatest, and was probably where it was "supposed" to end, but that was often not where it actually did.

By the way, Original GM trunk weatherstrip is still available. Its about the only 69 Chevelle weatherstrip you can still get. Its NOTHING like the repop soffseal or metro, but is EXACTLY like the production stuff used in 69... its a little more money (about 50 bucks) but well worth it in my opinion.

Joey, got a part # for the trunk weatherstrip? Mines ok, but I'd replace it to get real GM. Thanks.

This is Metro instruction page
http://www.metrommp.com/src/trunk.htm

My instructions say use 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive #08008. I had to go to an automotive paint store to get it. It seemed to set up pretty fast.

I found out there are a lot of different part numbers all call weather strip adhesive
.

sorry, i dont have the part number, but i do know its available... i just got some a few months ago for my camaro. GM used that same design of trunk weatherstrip on about 50 different cars, so its easier to get than door weatherstrip, cause its not specific to just one model. Call the local dealership and have the parts dept look it up, or try that gmpartsdirect website. Anyone know the part number?
