bigsky Dec 9th, 06, 7:20 PM How much for the seats? You can buy the whole thing brand new on opgi.com pretty reasonable, but they are all in pieces, not hard to do it yourself if you take your time. Lot of times on the used ones the drivers seat frame is bent and that is usually easier to replace than repair?
Ricks70ss Dec 9th, 06, 8:53 PM BIGSKY: I seen your reply on the bucket seats. Whats the name of that place? also where are they located? I saw a set for $1600.00 complete. ready to bolt in. Do you remember the price on the set your talking about. RICK, ALBERTVILLE ,MN
Poompapa's 72 Dec 11th, 06, 8:46 PM For $550, these guys will sell you a pair of new seats, minus the covering and headrests. Here's the link. http://www.glideeng.com/products.htm

That's a pretty interesting link. Anyone ever seen their product?
Compared to what rebuilding an actual 64-72 Chevelle bucket costs, $550 for a pair including foam is a decent price...

I haven't tried them. I saw them after I had purchased an old pair. I have sunk way over $700 and tons of time just to bring mine up to frames with buns (all new springs, wire brush & repaint, seat buns, etc.). Then I had to re-buy the surrounds and backs for my old seats due to the wear and tear on the originals. Truth about old seats is that they may look great on the outside, but you really won't know until you buy them and tear them down. It's a gamble.
I was kicking myself when I saw that website. And, theirs recline!!!! After looking carefully, it appears that what's left to buy are the headrests (& hardware), plastic surrounds (& hardware) and seat covers. All in all it looks like a pretty good deal.
If anyone tries them, make sure and write up a review on them in the review section of this site. Here's a link to the interior review portion of the site: http://www.chevelles.com/reviews/showcat.php?cat=5
tlowe Dec 14th, 06, 1:25 PM they look like something i'd put in a boat(if i had one). i will admit price is not bad. they wont have the plastic rear or lower sides. if changing seats to something other than stock i would go to the salvage yard, cheaper, better looking seats. for what it is worth i have atleast 10 sets of buckets i would sell. check out my ad here http://www.chevelles.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=9102 .tom

That is a great idea Lynn. I would be very interested to see what they are "really" like too.
Thanks,

call me stupid, but i will never put that in my car. i like the look of stock, but they don't recline, and you slid all over the place like a truck. i like the fold in half thing.

canadian67ss Dec 15th, 06, 4:46 PM I too found a beaten up pair of buckets for my 67. I replaced the springs because many were broken. I removed the old springs, sand blasted the frames, welded a few stress cracks, and painted. I installed a set of new springs, covered the springs with heavy felt, installed the cushions, and new covers. The plastic seat backs and sides I am giving a very light sanding and painting. They look good enough to me, but not show quality.
forcd ind Dec 15th, 06, 7:08 PM the side springs seem to match up pretty good, but i had to buy the whole bottom unit for one side, it was bigger than the orig one, and the seat cover didnt fit right-i bit the bullit and paid high for a nice set, they were perfect, covers fit great
i think they get you on the covers for them $695, after head rest and hardware.a couple hundred bucks more and you could buy new original looking seats ready to bolt in.
