Here is the info on this car. 396 nom, 4 speed, 12 bolt, pdb, p/s. I just looked at this car. The car has not been on the road sence 1986 and is the real deal.
Here are all the numbers that I could get for now.
ST 70 13637 KAN 497044
TR 755 10 10
01A 03422 L
VIN 136370K148531
7000 TACH
It is in need of full restoration and has rust in the trunk, around the back window and the rear lower part of the front finders. I am looking to purchace the car. Need to know ASAP. I do have more pics in my showroom.

12,000 to 15k, is there a build sheet?
I would do a more deeper inspection on the steel. Did you actually go see the car in person?
Heavy rust thru repair costs the same to fix regardless if it an SS or not, but you could get more return if it is an SS or t least justify it to yourself.
If the rear corners of the glass are rusted thru you can not only have a rotten trunk, but the rear seat floors can be bad.
If the lower front fenders are rotten, then the cowl area down next to the kick panel can be rusted out.
Peel the carpet back in the front and back seat area to get a better look.
Did you poke and prod the frame for soft spots?
The mecanicals don't mean much to most, since the motor is not original, and all that stuff can be rebuilt. It's the "buy the best body you can find", that really takes the cake.
Now for the other questions? Do you have the $3-10k to pay someone to replace the rust-out or can you do it (or want to learn) yourself? That's not paint, just body repair.

I do not know if the build sheet is there. The guy that has the car doesn't think the back seat has been out of the car or the gas tank droped. The trunk does have rust holes I don't know what shape it would be in. The guy that has the car is third owner and bought from his old friend who was driving it before 1986 and thay would go out criusing in the car.

The guy that has the car took the carpet out, no rust in the floors. I do auto rust repair for a living. No problems with the frame. I just got back from seeing the car. The car is from the area I live in and the rust is petty common for this area.
