I have read that one of the main problems with bc/cc is not letting the base coat cure long enough and trapping the chems under the clear, however the DBC tech sheet says that it must be topcoated ie.. cleared within 24hrs.

If you exceed the 24hr. window for clearcoat application on dbc you will need to apply another fresh coat of dbc or dbc 500 midcoat clear to start another window. The longer you wait before applying the clear the better, you will notice an improved gloss, clear clarity, and less problems with solvent pop. For really nice results clear the car and wet sand it with 800 or 1000 and apply two more coats followed by colorsanding and buff-----------------It will be like glass. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The tech says excatly what JimD mentioned. That flame red for some reason I want to say its a metallic color, maybe not I cant remember all my Mopor reds.
If the color is a metallic you should wait longer then the 15 mins. Sometimes if you apply that clear too soon especailly like on a hood or deck lid the clear can swirl the metallics.
A few ways to help prevent that problem is #1 wait longer,#2 after that 15 mins apply a coat of DBC500 over the basecoat. That forms a interlocking coat that will help prevent swirling. Also you can add dx57 basecoat activiator up to 10% ratio in the basecoat. I normally just add it to the final coat base when I do use that product. Adding this can also reduce streaks or zebra stripes if you happen to get them.
