The 67 chevelles with the turbo 400 transmissions and consoles were cable-operated that year (it clearly shows this in my 67 restoration manual). Only the powerglide transmission console shifter had the rod linkage and will not work with a 400 trans (unless you purchase a conversion kit that uses a cable to replace the rod linkage on a 67 shifter, which sounds like the previous owner has already done). I can,t get my console out unless I unhook the shifter from the trans. There is a l bracket screwed to the shifter base to run the cable.Is this correct or do I need to go to the book. any info appreciated or a pic of your shifter.Thanks Big Block Muscle Dec 15th, 06, 6:52 PM Found it in the book.
