Just curious,
No gears, no carrier, no axles...
68-72 (supposedly from a '70)

rough range would be fine...

Tony, there were a couple on craigslist recently. one was from a 69 and was asking $275, another was 68-72 and was asking $300 I think. These were complete rearends though. personally I would`nt pay more than $150 for a bare 68-72 housing. I would love to have one but I think I`m stuck with my 10 bolt for a while.

I would agree with these price ranges, but Tony, you mentioned in another post that this housing does not have bearing caps. I would expect even a bare housing to at least have caps at these prices. The value without caps would be much less considering the cost of replacing them. I don't know what that cost would be but it probably approaches the value we are discussing here.

Edit: Just did some research. Mark Williams billet caps are $65 ea. and require some milling to install.

Well, turned out it DID have caps... But pretty rusted (need line-honing?)

I forget the casting number, but the casting date was L 26 70... So I guess thats a '71 (or late 1970? Was there a strike with those too).

I have had this rearend for close to 20 years...

So complete, bare housing, rusted inside (pitting on the bearing surfaces/caps), with caps...

I sold it for $100 on saturday night (the buyer was buying some BB cores, etc). Before we pulled it out, he asked IF it had the caps (gulp!), but it did...

I still have a "spare" 1965 (?) 12-bolt (bare housing with old axles that my car is sitting on), so that must be the one missing the caps...

Thanks...
