I just pulled my steering column yesterday. I want to restore it myself, but I'm not sure if I can.
1. Do I require any unusual tools?
2. Will i be opening up a " Pandora's Box " of parts that I will regret later if I take it apart myself?
3. Should I just leave this to a professional?
I'd like to do it myself and learn something new, but I don't want to get in over my head.
Any and all suggestions welcome.

Dan, you might want to seach for a team member named "70L34." His name is Tony and he writes for Car Craft magazine. He just wrote an article on what you are wanting to do and might be willing to help you out with the rebuild (the basics and what tools you'll need). Also you might want to just search the threads for the info and see what you can come up with.

Dan. For starters. I just did this on a 67(?) tilted column 2 weeks ago and took as much pictures (still too few though) as I could. They start at http://www.si.hhs.nl/~rob/images/html_album/page_35.htm

How far are you from Detroit? Bring it over, I'll teach you how to do it right. I have all the tools needed for the job.
