The 67 has taillight housings that are bolted to the rear quarter and have a gasket (that does not show) between them. Should these be painted seperately, or attached? Was any type of seam seal used on parts like these?

Take the housing off and clean the old gasket off. Cut it in with paint (spray back side and edges)and let it dry. Bolt it up loosely and paint the car. Remove it when dry and add your gasket.

Thanks Roger,
I took them off when I media blasted the body. I put them back on when I was blocking. I was just curious as to whether they should be hung off the body to paint, or bolted up tight with the new gaskets underneath. At the factory, were they originally painted seperately from the car?

I spaced mine with washers during the paint job to make sure the outside paint wouldn't seal them in.

My '67 is in the final process of being painted right now. The taillights, along with the cowl grill, were painted off the car.

Thanks Guys,

I was going to just hang them in the booth, but the washer idea sounds interesting.
